Advanced Biochemistry has been designed to elaborate on topics discussed in CHEM 427. Topics covered include macromolecular structures such as mitochondrial and photosynthetic membranes, multi-enzyme complexes, and the mechanisms of replication, transcription and translation. The concepts of enzyme kinetics and mechanisms are expanded upon, including such areas as inhibitor design and computational methods. Recombinant DNA techniques are also discussed. Lecture and lab. Prerequisite: CHEM 427 4 credits
