Prereq: MATH 163B OR 263B. Introduction to computer modeling and simulation in biological research. Designed to illustrate the power and limitations of computer simulation by having students code (in MATLAB) simulation programs for a number of different biological phenomena. Quantitative models used include models of enzyme kinetics, population biology, population genetics, diffusion models, and compartmental models in physiology. 3 lec, 2 lab.
