A survey of graphic design history and visual typography and its application in areas such as composition, type specification, logo design, comprehensive lettering, basic layout, and computer typesetting. Problem solving methods, verbal-visual concepts, and production techniques are introduced in a series of assignments that parallel the professional design world.
