4 C.H. Previously: BI 203 Code S Prerequisite: ENG* E101, CHE* E111, and BIO* E105, each with a grade of "C" or higher. The history of microbiology and a survey of microbial life. The bacteria are studied as characteristic prototypes of all microorganisms. These and other microorganisms are discussed, stressing their environment, growth, reproduction, metabolism, and relationship to humans. 3 hours lecture and 3 hours laboratory.
