4 credits, 4 lecture hours This comprehensive, three-part course provides the student with an overview of the historical development of medical nomenclature and classification systems introducing the coding of the diseases, medical conditions, and operative procedures, both in the in-patient and outpatient setting to the highest level of specificity. In addition, the student will learn to research and apply knowledge of insurance rules and regulations for major insurance programs, office bookkeeping system, accurately post charges, payments, and adjustments to patient accounts. The student will review all insurance payments and explanation of benefits forms and perform patient scheduling using the Medical Office Manager Software. PREREQUISITES: HC-126
