3 credits This course provides a comprehensive overview of the public health function of environmental and occupational health. The course presents various aspects of environmental health, including air, surface water, and ground water contamination, food safety, occupational health, radiation, chemical and physical hazards, vector control, drug use, and injuries. Additional topics including such issues as the health effects of global climate change and rapid industrialization, and developing nations' perspectives on potable water supply, water pollution, indoor and ambient air pollution, sanitation, and waste management will also be covered. The various components of this course aim to stimulate interactions among learners and instructors around important problems and issues facing public health. PREREQUISITES: HC-125 or HC-126; HA-255
