3 credits This is a comprehensive course that provides broad knowledge of Mobile Systems and Wireless products. Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) technology is a convenient way to allow for reliable, highly flexible, mobile data network access. This course is intended for students who want to learn how to evaluate, plan, design and implement a wireless network system. Cisco, Bluetooth, and WAP technologies, protocols, and applications are covered in depth. Radio frequencies, bandwidth requirements, security challenges, the IEEE 802.11 standard, Service Set Identifiers (SSID) and Media Access Control (MAC) Wired Equivalent Protocol (WEP) are also discussed.
