The course examines the role of Christ's Paschal Mystery in someone's progress to holiness and union with God; how the Cross offers a redemptive value to suffering and death; how the Cross also affirms the value of life and draws one more deeply into a life of love. Based on a wide range of sources, focus will be placed on such pre-eminent teachers as Saints Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Therese of Lisieux, and Edith Stein. 3 credits. Required for Spiritual Theology concentration.
