This course provides instruction in the theory, setup, operation, and maintenance of mechanical ventilators. Program instructors also review emergency airway disorders and equipment used to establish and maintain both adult and pediatric airways. Topics include mechanical ventilator theory, ventilator operation, ventilator maintenance, insertion and maintenance of artificial airways, fiber optic bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, chest tube maintenance, and arterial blood gas sampling. Prerequisites: RTT 111, RTT 112, RTT 113 Prerequisites/Corequisite: RTT 2-1-2
