This course introduces students to health information management in a wide variety of settings. Students will examine regulatory issues documentation reimbursement quality improvement and utilization management and risk management and legal issues in each of these settings. Topics include: hospitalbased ambulatory care, freestanding ambulatory care, managed care, dialysis, correctional facilities, dental care settings, veterinary settings, substance abuse, facilities for mentally challenged, mental health, longterm care, subacute care, home health care, hospice, rehabilitation, and consulting. Prerequisite: HIT 206
