This course is a combination of inclass meetings and supervised internship, designed to give students additional supervised activities in alternative care settings, to include internship in physician's office, nursing homes, home healthcare agencies, and local county health departments. The HIT Department Head and the health care facility preceptor will guide the student in accomplishing the objectives set forth in the Professional Practice Experience Handbook. This course is designed to help the student gain entrylevel competencies as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Prerequisite: HIT 206, HIT Program Manager approval.
