Introduces the student to the paramedic profession. Discussion centers on functions that extend beyond the EMT scope of practice. Topics include the EMS system/roles and responsibilities, wellbeing of the paramedic, illness and injury prevention, medical/legal considerations, ethics, ambulance operations, medical incident command, rescue awareness/operations, hazardous materials incidents and crime scene awareness. This course provides instruction on topics in Division 1, Sections 15, Division 7, Section 1 and Division 8 sections 15 of the USDOT/NHTSA Paramedic National Standard Curriculum.
