A study of the methods characteristic of modern formal logic. Included are the symbolic representation of arguments in both the propositional and predicate calculi, the criteria of validity, the derivation of theorems using natural deduction, and other techniques of syntactic proof and introductory model theory. Topics in the philosophy of logic are discussed.
