introduces the student to factors that contribute to the physical and emotional growth of children from conception to age eight. emphasis will be placed on developmental characteristics, experiences and activities that enhance psychomotor development, and principles of positive health care. Class lectures, readings, observations and workshops will be designed to acquaint the student with assessment tools, movement exploration experiences, design and use of space and materials to meet individual needs, concerns that relate to the child's nutritional needs, first aid and safety, drug use and abuse, and a basic introduction to medical terminology.
