No prerequisites. This course offers a thorough study of the development of the Italian short story throughout seven centuries of Italian literature by analyzing specific exemplars of the genre. The works will be approached from the aesthetic, political, social, and cultural perspective. By focusing on the multiple dimensions of the narrative product, students will have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the relationship between the literary works and the cultural background of the period under investigation.
