This course includes the study of the origin and composition of rocks and minerals; landscape development by water, ice, and wind; earthquakes; the Earth's interior; the nature of mountains and their development; the movement of continental and oceanic plates, and environmental aspects of geology. The laboratory portion includes 3 hours of local field trips and constitutes a practical application of aspects of the above subject areas.
