The student will be exposed to the advanced theory and skills needed to manage the care of individuals in a variety of critical care areas. The focus will be on identifying critical situations and potential problems and selecting and implementing the appropriate interventions. Students will apply theory and skills to case studies and clinical situations. Students will be exposed to such advanced skills as cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, critical care drugs, emergent and code situations using case studies and simulated patient care situations. This course may be used to fulfill the elective requirement for nursing. Students must receive a ā€œCā€ or better in this course as a prerequisite for subsequent courses.
