Prerequisite: MAT 099, MAT 103 and MTR 163 Advanced Physical Dimensioning Metrology is an introduction to new and less common areas of physical measurement. Development of standardization and measurement techniques for new technology will be covered. Acoustics, leak, air pollution, rotational, pyrometry, radiometry, photometry, electo optic, laser, fiber optics, PH, conductivity, ionizing radiation, and radioactivity. Related measurements may be studied and conducted where feasible. The course will cover high amplification comparators, Coordinate Measuring Machines, Optical Comparators, and Microscopes. Measuring instruments and standards will be evaluated for care, use calibration, and traceability.
