3 Credits Business,Professional Studies Networking Students study network terminology and protocols, network standards, safety issues, Open System Interconnection (OSI) models, Local Area Networks (WANs), cabling, cabling tools, routers, router programming, network topologies, Ethernet technologies, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, subnetworks, subnet masks, and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) fundamentals. Emphasis is given to the use of decision-making and problem-solving techniques in applying science, mathematics, communication, and social studies concepts to solve networking problems. Instruction and training are provided in the proper care, maintenance, and use of networking software, tools, and equipment. Course fee. Prerequisites: MAT 098 and CIS 100 or equivalent computer experience.
