0 Credits Undeclared division Non Credit Courses In this workshop you will take the fundamentals of the Authentic Writing program and combine this way of writing from life with concrete plans for larger works. The starting point is that writing is art and the most important thing a person ever does in art and life is get at that person's true identity. We honor the Renaissance masters who spoke of how an artist, no matter what the subject, is always depicting the artist's own self. Whether or not a plan for a larger work is wanted, this class, open to all who want to write, is designed to leave you with a great deal of first-draft, and often finished, work. You can also come away with a flexible outline for how these pieces will come together organically to form a full memoir, autobiographical novel, or play for screen or theater. Within the last year, two plays, by Suzanne Bachner and Bob Brader, begun in these workshops, were produced off-Broadway to much acclaim. Also receiving press acclaim, as well as tens of thousands of hits when published on-line, was the memoir The Guru Looked Good by Marta Szabo, almost completely written in the workshops.
