3 Credits Visual Arts, MUS, & THE Music An introduction to basic music and computer-assisted songwriting is provided in this course. After an orientation to the computer and the MIDI keyboard, students learn simple music reading techniques and develop an understanding of the characteristics of melody, rhythm, harmony, and lyrics. Students then create songs using computers and the MIDI keyboard. Weekly out-of-class time in the computer lab is recommended. No previous musical skills or computer background are required. This course is not intended for music majors.
