3 Credits Social Sciences,EDU, & HUS Human Services This course is an introduction to the child welfare system, using a generalist approach for direct care practice. Students are introduced to services and policies in child welfare and have the opportunity to gain competence in specific skill areas including assessment, communication, problem-solving, conflict mediation, documentation, case management, teamwork, and ethical decision-making when working with children and families. Experimental methods of learning, such as role-plays, community site visits, and limited client contacts are utilized. Corequisite: HUS 103.
