4 Credits Math,Science,ENGR, & TECH Enviro Control/Hazardous Waste The theory and techniques of instrumental analysis are explored, including topics such as pH, electrical continuity, spectrophotometry, chromatography, autoanalysis, atomic absorption spectrophotometry, and inductively coupled plasma. Students train in current methods used in environmental laboratories and on the instruments used in those analyses. Special emphasis is placed on sources of experimental error and on the statistical application of numerical data. Individually, students give an oral presentation on recent advances in instrumental analysis. 3 hrs. lect.; 3 hrs. lab. Lab fee. Prerequisites: ENV 101, ENV 102, and either CHE 102 or CHE 104 or by advisement.
