Students learn the principles of static equilibrium of rigid bodies. Topics include force systems, couples, first- and second-moments, centroids, friction, and free body diagrams. Application areas include trusses, frames, machines, cables, and other structures. 3 hrs. lect. Prerequisites: PHY 109 and MAT 108.
