3 Credits Nursing & Public Safety Emer Medical Tech This course is the first half of the New York State Basic EMT Program. Completion of this course and EMT 102 allows the student to sit for the New York State Basic EMT Certification exams. The course provides training in the fundamentals of patient care in emergency circumstances. Course content includes general guidelines for responding to medical and traumatic emergencies, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and airway problems, as well as managing wounds and shock. Adult and Pediatric Patient assessment, history taking, and vital signs will also be covered. Observation in a hospital emergency room and with an ambulance crew is required. Special fee applies.
