This course will teach you the main principles in approaching the sustainable, energy efficient house design. You will learn how these principles are applied in new construction as well as in renovation and adaptation. Topics covered include how to evaluate your needs, passive solar for new and existing homes, how the design of your house affects the energy efficiency and your wellbeing, what materials are considered green, as well as budgeting for a green home. Also covered will be how light, heat, air and energy affect equipment and design, how the house plans and site topography influence the house design and energy efficiency, what is LEED and other energy rating systems, and how to market and sell your energy efficient home.
