4-5 credits Prerequisite: PRO 3301 with a grade of "C" or better and admission to the Orthotics and Prosthetics BAS program. This course focuses on anatomy, biomechanics and prosthetic principles of transfemoral, hip disarticulation and hemipelvectomy amputations. Students will learn biomechanics of the socket fit and prosthetic alignment. This course requires comprehensive integration of the students knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and prosthetic principles. Students will learn to take an impression, rectify the model, fabricate a check and a definitive prosthesis, and perform diagnostic and final fittings. 122 contact hours.
