3-4 credits Prerequisite: BSC 2011, BSC 2011L. This course is designed to teach animal physiology from a comparative perspective that focuses on the interplay between environmental conditions and physiological adaptation and highlights the many similarities and differences seen among different types of organisms. It also stresses the significance of homeostasis and addresses the interdependency between structure and function. This course emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach as concepts from physics and chemistry are meshed with biology and is a combined lecture and lab class. This course is designed primarily for students in the Secondary Science Education program. This course addresses specific Sunshine State Standards, subject matter competencies, and pedagogy pertinent to the discipline and required for certification. 77-92 contact hours.
