5 credits Prerequisite: NUR 2462L , NUR 2150C and STA 2023 all with grades of "C" or better. Co-requisite: NUR 2731. The focus is on application of holistic nursing concepts and principles related to care of a group of patients with potentially life threatening problems. Clinical experiences take place in hospitals and community settings. Selected advanced nursing skills are introduced, including but not limited to administration of intravenous medications and blood transfusions. Demonstration of roles and competencies of the associate degree graduate nurse at entry level are expected. This course contains a number of critical behaviors, including medication administration, that must be performed without error by the end of the course to successfully pass the course. (This course meets for 225 clinical and laboratory hours.) 225 contact hours.
