This course is a survey of the background, nature, and functions of the media of mass communications, with special emphasis on the print, film, and electronic media. The course is designed to provide the student with a basis for effective analysis, evaluation, and use of the various media, and with a knowledge of the role and the responsibilities of the mass media in a democratic society. This course has a substantial writing requirement. 47 contact hours.
