6 credits "G" Prerequisite: ((ENC 1121H or IDS 1101H) and (appropriate scores on the SPC placement test)) or (acceptance into the Honors College) or approval of the dean. This course is an integrated survey of the historical and intellectual development of Western civilization from the close of the Classical Period to the Enlightenment. Attention is given to the distinctive contributions of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Reformation and Counter-Reformation and the Ages of Discovery. The survey gives specific consideration to the disciplines of history, literature, philosophy, art history, religious studies, history of science and communication. (Students who complete IDS 2990H will receive equivalency credit for ENC 1122H and HUM 2233H.) This course partially satisfies the writing requirements outlined in the General Education Requirements. 92 contact hours. * Experimental Course - 3 Terms Only: Term II, 2008-09 through Term I, 2009-10*
