3 credits This course is a chronological survey of the techniques of critical thinking and problem solving as applied to graphic design communications beginning with the advent of the Industrial Revolution and continuing through to the 21st century. Specifically targeted for the graphic design student, this course contains a chronology of advertising, marketing, and mass media approaches in order to outline the process of visual strategies and campaigns. Exploration of genres, styles, and practices are detailed through the use of hands-on projects and demonstrations. 47 contact hours.
