6 credits Prerequisites: BSC 1084C or (BSC 2085/L and BSC 2086/L), EMS 1522C, HSC 1531, EMS 2600C all with grades of "C" or better, admission to Paramedic CT and current Florida EMT-Basic certification. Corequisites: EMS 2601L and EMS 2664. This course is an in-depth study of the U.S. Department of Transportation, EMT Paramedic: National Standard Curriculum/EMS Education Standards which include aspects of the prehospital environment which focuses on general patient assessmetn,and assessment-based management; airway and ventilation assessment; venous access and medication administration; clinical decision-making; shock and fluid resuscitation; pathophysiology and general pharmacology; aspects of advanced trainign on perehospital trauma and burn management; the respiratory system which includes disease pathophysiology and respiratory arrest management; mangement of geriatric and psychiatric patients; patients experiencing anaphylaxis; and patient with disorders of the neurological system related to trauma and the pulmonary system. 92 contact hours.
