3 credits This survey course is based on the National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Responders at scenes of accident and/or illness is designed to prepare the student for emergency care of a victim, providing the skills and knowledge of care prior to the arrival of the Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic. Recognition of symptoms and signs of impending danger to the patient's life and the accepted treatment modes for the conditions will be taught as well as techniques for extrication (light duty) of the accident victim. 47 contact hours.
