3 credits Pre or Co-requisite: DEH 3813 and admission to the Dental Hygiene BAS program or permission of the Dean. This course is designed to provide the student with an introduction to educational concepts and theory relative to dental hygiene education. Topics included are course development and design, goals and objectives, laboratory and clinical instruction, principles of learning, learning styles and motivation, case-based learning, and using educational media and software. Emphasis will be on presenting the basic concepts of educational planning, development and evaluation. 47 contact hours.
