4.4 V Under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor, students will demonstrate proper surgical scrub techniques and maintain aseptic technique. Emphasis will be on identifying and setting up supplies and instruments for individual surgical cases, establishing a sterile field, and preparing instruments and supplies for the surgical procedure and identify and utilize proper care of specimens. As competency develops, students will move up to the first scrub position during surgical cases, with the assistance of an assigned surgical technologist and supervision of the clinical preceptor.
