This course provides the student with the preoperative theory, detailed surgical procedures and special techniques involving the multiple surgical specialties of orthopedic, opthalmology, peripheral vascular, thoracic, cardiovascular, plastic reconstructive, endoscopy, trauma, and pediatric surgery. The perioperative care of the individual patient is included. A review of relevant anatomy and physiology and medical terminology is incorporated throughout the curriculum. Students will increase knowledge in specialty areas by attending educational lectures. Guest speakers will be physicians, medical company representatives, and hospital staff
