P The purpose of this course is to acquaint students with a philosophy of positive guidance for working with young children, typical and atypical, and with factors that influence learning and behavior. Strategies for changing behavior, negotiation, reinforcement, setting limits, and ways to handle problem behavior will be presented. Content will include principles of behavior modification, modifying the environment, and consideration of the roles of teacher, family, and child in the learning process. This course satisfies the SACS oral competency requirement, in accordance with SFC's oral competency assessment rubric
