Description:
Basic Mediation Training Pre: Communications Proficiency Co: This course instructs participants in learning the general practice of mediation. The training is interactive, combining exercises, discussions, demos, presentations and role-playing. Participants will learn the skills and techniques of a mediator, such as active listening, learning the perspectives of the disputants, defining the interests and positions, facilitating communication, dealing with power imbalances and generating options for resolution. The course complies with the MA Association of Mediation Programs and Practitioners, the MA Bar Association-Civil Mediations Training, the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution, and the MA Trial Court. Fulfills open, liberal arts, humanities, behavioral science, social science electives.
