Introduction to Grooming Pre: Communications Proficiency Co: This course is designed to introduce the future Professional Groomer to the tools and equipment needed for grooming all breeds of dogs and cats. These include brushes, combs, dematting tools, scissors, thinning shears, electric clipper blades, muzzles, grooming tables, dryers and crates. The student will also become familiar with shampoos, conditioners, and dematting solutions. Students will be taught the skills of brushing, dematting, washing, drying, foot grooming, ear care, nail clipping, basic clipper use and scissoring. Students will also become familiar with making appointments, admitting and releasing animals, client record keeping and client relations. Maintenance of tools and equipment will be emphasized. (1 hour of lecture, 6 hours of lab per week)
