3 credits This is an overview of the art of theatre and drama beginning with an inquiry into the nature of the dramatic experience. Dramatic expression, tragedy, comedy, melodrama, and tragicomedy will be examined. Students will analyze the roles of the artists of theatre: actor and director, designer and architect, playwright and critic. Prerequisites: RDG100, ENG100 or placement. Spring.
