Description:

This course is structured to give students an overall understanding of the history and development of theater for children. There will be discussion and reading about the changing views of childhood and an examination of value systems inherent in plays. Students will be exposed to play scripts written specifically for children and publishers of plays and materials for children. This course will also deal with the practical elements involved in producing and staging a play for children. Prerequisites: Introductory Writing (ENGL099), Preparing for College Reading II (ENGL092), or waiver by placement testing results, or Departmental Approval
