History of Rock & Roll traces the development of America's most popular music genre from its origins in rhythm and blues, jazz, gospel and country music to the present. Emphasis will be placed on the development of music listening skills, written analysis and on understanding the many different styles of rock & roll by studying representative works of well-known artists and composers. The role of rock music as a social, cultural and economic force will be examined. 3 cr. 3 Lec. (Departmental Standards Version of MUS 150 - approved by Academic Affairs on 12/14/98.)
