Description:
This course is a further study of algebra focusing on linear equations and inequalities. It is intended for students who have successfully completed MTH 095 or its equivalent. Topics include a review of the real numbers and basic algebraic concepts, algebraic and graphic solutions of linear equations and inequalities, solutions of absolute value equations and inequalities, functions, operations with polynomials and factoring. Contextual problems will be stressed. Prerequisite: One year of high school algebra, or MTH 095, MTH 096, MTH 097 (Basic Algebra). Not open, without permission of the department chair, to students who have completed MTH 144 or higher with a C or better. 3 cr. 3 Lec. (Per Departmental Standards Version of MTH 125, approved by Academic Affairs on 4/6/06).
