Description:
This course examines various domains of infant and toddler development, which will be presented and discussed in terms of its universality for all children, its uniqueness for each individual, and the impact of the cultural context in which it is taking place. The importance of non-judgmental observation will be emphasized through activities that will promote each student's ability to make detailed and pertinent observations. In addition, the caregiver skills necessary for a quality infant or toddler program will be presented and discussed. This course provides a total of 30 hours of lecture, 45 hours of practicum experience in a supervised setting, and 45 hours of independent field work. (This is Course I of the New York State Infant - Toddler Care Certificate of Completion Program.) 4 cr. 2 Lec. 6 Lab.
