This course will familiarize students with both conventional and modern operating system environments. Basic concepts of operating system structure, elements, functions, and operation will be addressed. The course will also explore the concepts of disk management, file system management, user management, and security management through operating system utilities. Students will be provided with an introductory, hands-on experience with command-line operating system interfaces based on MS-DOS and UNIX-based environments. 2 cr. 1.5 Lec. 2 Lab.
