This course in Human Biology focuses on how the systems of the human body operate and how various illnesses interfere with that operation. Lectures cover organ systems from a functional aspect, then diseases from a malfunctional perspective, with special attention given to the connection between malfunctions and symptoms. The course also covers how treatment for disease is related (or not) to system malfunction. Laboratories cover simple internal anatomy, disease causing organisms, simple diagnostics, and such topics as medical ethics and epidemiology.
