Institution:
Fulton-Montgomery Community College
Subject:
Description:
A course centered around the contemporary problems-energy, pollution, and depletion of natural resources-of our physical environment. It analyzes different forms of energy, energy conservation principles, our energy resources, methods of energy conversions and their byproducts, first and second laws of thermodynamics, and efficiency of current energy usage - thermal pollution, air pollution, solid waste, noise pollution, nuclear radiation pollution, and their effects on man and the environment. It explores the potential for more efficient use of our natural resources. The course studies energy sources of the future-breeder reactor, fusionreactor, solar energy, geothermal energy, magneto-hydrodynamics, fuel cells and energy from wastes. Hours of class per week: 2.
