This is the second part of Elementary German, and it is assumed that the student has either the first semester of German, or has had no more than 1 or 2 years of high school German. This course focuses on getting students to communicate from day one. Students are expected to prepare grammatical material on their own in the text and Workbook and bring questions and be ready to work with the material in class. Class time is then reserved largely for the use and practice of new material, as well as trouble shooting. Students will be evaluated by a mid-term, final and oral exams, at least 5 journal (writing) assignments, and two class participation evaluations. Quizzes may also be administered periodically during the semester. This course is not open to Native or Heritage speakers of German. Hours of class per week: 3.General Education: F.
