A study of masonry and concrete construction methods that includes discussions on traditional brick/block laying and pouring concrete that relate to building foundations and masonry exterior veneers. The relationship between concrete foundations and steel spanned buildings are discussed. The safe and proper use for masonry and concrete tools and equipment is an integral part of the course. Students will participate in lab activities that include: laying modern and traditional brick patterns, standard masonry block laying practices, setting concrete wall forms, and placing and finishing concrete slabs.
